John Wood

Cross Development Expert

Hi there! I’m John, a web developer with a keen interest in Python and computer vision. This is “John Designs Success,” my space for showcasing my personal projects and sharing my journey in tech.

My path in the tech world has been a bit all over the place, but I’ve learned a lot. I’ve had the opportunity to work in PCI compliance for quick-service restaurants, provide desktop support for SMB clients at Dell, and dive into healthcare IT at OU Health. These experiences have given me a solid foundation in practical IT solutions and problem-solving in various environments.

I started my academic journey in Computer Engineering at OU, where I got to grips with the essentials of tech and programming. After completing my B.S., I explored the world of data science and paralegal studies before deciding to take an academic hiatus to fix credit card readers for fast-food restaurants as a profession. The experience deepened my appreciation for the payment card industry and the vast enterprise networks that make our economy possible.

In 2020, I took some time to be with my family. By Spring of 2022, I found myself taking up a contract to do IT work in a hospital undergoing a major software migration. This was truly rewarding work. With the project finished and my contract completed, I’ve since returned to freelancing for a short list of clients, mostly webdev and social media management, but also implementing a few analytics backends here and there.

It’s a good time to be in tech.

IT is cool and everything, but I’d really like to build robots again.
